栲治 [Interrogate by beating] (the first character is pronounced with the fanqie kē + lǎo [kǎo]. The Kaosheng states: "Kǎo means to strike." The Shuowen states: "It takes 'mù' (木) as its semantic classifier and 'kǎo' (考) as its phonetic component." The second character is pronounced with the fanqie zhì + zhī [zhì]. The Kaosheng states: "To govern or manage." Gu Yewang states: "To cultivate and repair." The Shuowen states: "It takes 'shuǐ' (水) as its semantic classifier and 'tái' (台) as its phonetic component").
