繼嗣（上稽隷反王弼注周易云繼謂不絕也爾雅繼紹綱也說文續也從糸㡭聲俗作繼也㡭音絕下辝漬反考聲云嗣亦繼也鄭箋毛詩云嗣亦續也說文從口從𠕋從司聲）。

繼嗣 [Succeeding and heir] (The first character has the fanqie: 稽 + 隷. Wang Bi's commentary on the Book of Changes says: “繼 means without interruption.” The Erya says: “繼 means continuing the guiding line.” The Shuowen jiezi says: “To continue; classified under the radical 糸 with the phonetic 㡭.” Popularly written as 繼. 㡭 is pronounced jué. The second character has the fanqie: 辝 + 漬. The Kaosheng says: “嗣 also means to succeed.” Zheng Xuan's annotations on the Mao Commentary on the Classic of Poetry say: “嗣 also means to continue.” The Shuowen jiezi says: “Classified under 口 and 𠕋, with the phonetic 司”).
