All over and carved / severed 徧劖 (the first character, fanqie: 邊 + 見; Du's commentary on the Zuozhuan: "徧 is like all-encompassing"; Cangjie pian: "Broad"; Shuowen: "Encircling; analyzed as from 彳 (step) and 扁 phonetic"; the second character, fanqie: 仕 + 咸; Shenglei: "劖 means to stab/pierce"; Shuowen: "To sever; analyzed as from 刀 (knife) and [毚-、] phonetic; [毚-、] has the same sound as above").
