譏訶（上居依反何休注公羊云譏猶譴也廣雅云問也鄭注禮記云呵察也說文誹也從言幾聲下郝歌反考聲云諻也怒也問也文字典說云不敬者則大言而訶責之說文大言而怒也從言可聲也有從口作呵俗用非正也）。

Reproaching and rebuking 譏訶 (the first character, fanqie: 居 + 依; He Xiu's commentary on the Gongyang: "譏 is like reprimanding"; Guangya: "To question"; Zheng's commentary on the Liji: "呵 means to scrutinize"; Shuowen: "To slander; analyzed as from 言 (speech) and 幾 phonetic"; the second character, fanqie: 郝 + 歌; Kaosheng: "To clamor, to be angry, to interrogate"; Wenzidian shuo: "Toward those who are disrespectful, one loudly reprimands and scolds them"; Shuowen: "To speak loudly in anger; analyzed as from 言 (speech) and 可 phonetic; writing it with 口 as 呵 is a common vulgar usage, not standard").
