淤泥（上於據反顧野王云水中草為淤澱滓也從水於聲下禰鷄反顧野王云泥塗也土得水而爛者也說文從水尼聲經從土作埿俗字也）。

Mire and mud (淤泥: the upper character is yú-jù fan; Gu Yewang says: 'Waterweeds forming silt and sediment; it follows water with yū as phonetic'; the lower character is nǐ-jī fan; Gu Yewang says: 'Mud means slurry, soil that has become mushy upon receiving water'; the Shuowen says: 'It follows water with ní as phonetic'; the sūtra writes it with the earth radical as 埿, which is a vulgar character).
