Meditation cave (禪窟: kūn-gǔ fan; Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: 'Kū refers to an earthen chamber'; the Gujin zhengzi says: 'In winter they lived in dug caves'; it follows cave with qū as phonetic').
