滌除（上亭的反孔注尚書云滌除也鄭注周禮云滌濯也廣雅滌洒也說文從水條聲也）。

滌除 ('cleanse and eliminate': the upper character has the fanqie 亭的反 [dí]. Kong [Anguo's] commentary on the Shangshu says: 'Di means to eliminate.' Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Zhouli says: 'Di means to wash.' The Guangya says: 'Di means to sprinkle and wash.' The Shuowen says: 'Derived from 水 [water] with 條 as phonetic').
