御寒（古文敔同魚舉反廣雅禦止也詩云百夫之禦傳曰禦當也尒雅禦圉禁也舍人曰禦圉未有而預防之也論文或作禦毛詩亦以禦冬傳曰御禦也二形隋用也）。

Ward off the cold (御寒: ancient script 敔 is the same; yú + jǔ fanqie. The Guangya says: '禦 means to stop.' The Shijing says: 'A defense (禦) against a hundred men.' The commentary says: '禦 means to withstand.' The Erya says: '禦 and yǔ (圉) mean to forbid.' Sheren says: '禦 and 圉 mean to guard against something before it occurs.' The treatise's text sometimes writes 禦. The Mao Shijing also has 'to ward off (禦) winter.' The commentary says: '御 is 禦.' Both forms may be used indifferently).
