鹹鹵（胡緘反說文鹵謂西方鹹地也天生曰鹵人生曰鹽鹽在東方鹵在西方也釋名云地不生物曰鹵）。

Xian lu 鹹鹵 (saline soil: lu is hu + jian fan; Shuowen states: "Lu refers to the salty ground of the western regions. That which is naturally produced is called lu; that which is produced by human effort is called yan (salt). Salt is in the east, and lu is in the west." Shiming states: "Land where nothing grows is called lu").
