巘際 (the edge of a peak; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 魚 and 偃 [=yǎn]. The Mao commentary to the Shijing says: 'A 巘 is a small mountain separated from a large mountain.' Guo's commentary to the Erya says: 'The shape of the mountain is like stacked cauldrons (甑).' The Shiming says: 'A cauldron with a single hole is called a 巘; solitary mountains resemble it.' The Gujin zhengzi states that it takes 山 as semantic component and 獻 as phonetic component).
