猶豫（翼周反下以庶反說文隴西謂犬子為猶猶性多豫在人前故不决者皆謂之猶豫又爾雅云猶如麂善登木健上樹也）。

Hesitation (猶, *yì-zhōu* fanqie; the lower character [豫] is *yǐ-shù* fanqie. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'In Longxi, a dog pup is called a *you* (猶). The nature of the *you* involves much anticipation (豫) in front of humans, hence all who are indecisive are said to have *youyu* (猶豫).' Furthermore, the Erya says: 'The *you* is like a barking deer, skilled at climbing trees.')
