器仗（祛䔬反下治亮反漢書制器械之品應劭曰內盛曰器外盛曰械一曰无盛曰器仗兵器也五刃總名兵人所執持曰仗也）。

Weapons and instruments (器, *qū-yì* fanqie; the lower character [仗] is *zhì-liàng* fanqie. The Book of Han mentions 'regulating the grades of utensils and weapons (器械).' Ying Shao says: 'What is held inside is called *qi* (器); what is held outside is called *xie* (械).' Another says: 'Things without containers are called *qizhang* (器仗); *zhang* (仗) refers to military weapons. The five edged weapons are collectively called military weapons (兵); what people wield in their hands is called *zhang* (仗).')
