Qilin's horn [麟角] (li + zhen [=lín] in fanqie. A benevolent beast. The Shuowen says: 'The lin [qilin] has a body like a stag, a ox's tail, and a single horn. The tip of the horn has flesh. It does not tread on living insects, nor break living grass. Its cry matches the bells of the musical pitch, and its walking accords with the compass and square. It does not fall into traps or nets. Its patterned markings are splendid and elegant.' It is also a wondrous beast).
