Apes and monkeys (猨猴: [猨] is also written 蝯; both are pronounced yu-fan fan. It resembles a macaque but is larger, with long arms; its color is yellow or black, and its cry is mournful. At five hundred years of age it transforms into a jue; a jue lives for one thousand years. 𭸴 is pronounced ju-fu fan).
