鑽仰（上纂欒反論語云鑽之彌堅也漢書云商[革*夬]挾三術以鑽孝公又云鑽猶鎸𨦣也亦治擇之名也說文云鑽所以穿也從金贊聲也）。

鑽仰 (The first character is *zuan* + *luan* fanqie; the *Analects* says: "The more I bore into it, the harder it becomes." The *Hanshu* says: "Shang Yang embraced three arts to bore into Duke Xiao"; it also says: "鑽 is like chivying and chiseling; it is also a term for selecting and refining." The *Shuowen* says: "鑽 is that with which one pierces; derived from 金 with 贊 phonetic").
