威肅（星育反禮記云肅戒也尚書孔安國注云肅敬也韻英云肅恭也考聲云竦也息勇反敬也字書云嚴整也說文從帇女輒反在𣶒上戰戰兢兢也𣶒音淵）。

Awe-inspiring and solemn (威肅) (The second character has the fanqie xing + yu [x-]. The Liji says: 'Su (肅) means to admonish.' Kong Anguo's commentary on the Shangshu says: 'Su means reverence.' The Yunying says: 'Su means respectful.' The Kaosheng says: 'Song (竦), [with the fanqie] xi + yong [x-], meaning respectful.' Dictionaries say: 'Austere and orderly.' The Shuowen says: 'Derived from 帇 [with the fanqie] nü + zhe [n-], standing above an abyss (𣶒), trembling with fear.' 𣶒 is pronounced yuan).
