瑠璃 (beryl (vaiḍūrya): that is, vaiḍūrya; also written vaiḍūrya (毗瑠璃) or vaiḍūrya (毗頭梨). It is named after a mountain, meaning a gem from a distant mountain, the distant mountain being Mount Sumeru. This gem is blue in colour. All gems are indestructible and cannot be melted or cast by smoke and flame; only ghosts and spirits with supernatural powers can fashion it into objects. Alternatively, it is said to be the eggshell of the garuḍa, which ghosts and spirits break open to sell this gem to the human realm).
