聰叡（下悅慧反尚書云叡聖也又云必通於術也賈注國語叡明也廣雅云智也或作[卄/(脊-月+目)]說文從[(├/(同-(一/口)+、))*又]目從谷省聲[(├/(同-(一/口)+、))*又]音才安反經作叡誤也）。

聰叡 (the lower character fanqie: 悅慧; the Shangshu says: "Rui means sage"; it also says: "Inevitably penetrating in methodology"; Jia's Commentary on the Guoyu says: "Rui means bright, discerning"; the Guangya says: "Wisdom"; sometimes written [卄/(脊-月+目)]; the Shuowen derives it from [(├/(同-(一/口)+、))*又] and 目, with 谷 abbreviated as phonetic; [(├/(同-(一/口)+、))*又] is pronounced 才安 fanqie; the treatise writes 叡, which is an error).
