紡織（上芳罔反杜注左傳紡纑也鄭注儀禮紡絲為今之縛也考聲糾絲令緊也糾音經酉反說文絲也糸即捩也索也從糸方聲）。

Spinning and weaving (紡, the first character, has the fanqie phonetic spelling 芳罔 [fang/wang]. Du's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says: '紡 means spinning hemp.' Zheng's commentary on the Yili says: 'Spinning silk into what is nowadays called bound cord.' The Kaosheng says: 'To twist silk tightly.' 糾 has the fanqie phonetic spelling 經酉 [jing/you]. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'It means silk thread; [the radical] 糸 represents twisting and cordage; it takes 糸 as radical and 方 as phonetic component').
