有䘚（祖沒反說文隸人給事者曰䘚古以染衣題識表其形也方言南楚東海之間或謂䘚為赭郭璞曰言其衣赤也故字從衣）。

There was a menial (有䘚: [䘚 is pronounced with the] fanqie 祖沒. The Shuowen jiezi says: 'Bondservants who perform menial service are called 䘚. In ancient times, their garments were dyed and marked to identify their condition.' The Fangyan says: 'Between Southern Chu and the Eastern Sea, some refer to a 䘚 as zhe (赭).' Guo Pu says: 'This refers to their clothes being red (ochre); hence the character is classified under the clothing radical 衣.').
