當梟（古堯反說文烈者也謂斷首倒懸於竽頭肆其辜也或作梟說文不孝鳥也冬至曰捕梟磔之從鳥頭在木上二形通用）。

To expose the severed head (当枭, [枭 is] *gu* + *yao* fan; the *Shuowen jiezi* says: 'A fierce criminal,' referring to severing the head and hanging it upside down on a pole to expose their guilt. Or it is written 枭; the *Shuowen jiezi* says: 'An unfilial bird; on the winter solstice they catch the owl and tear it apart.' It is composed of a bird's head on wood; the two forms are used interchangeably).
