黿鼉（上阮袁反考聲云似鼈而大腹黃而頭斑說文亦大鼈也從黽元聲下堂何反似蜥蜴而大長一丈則為龍水次穴居郭璞云皮可以為皷也說文從黽單聲音那也）。

黿鼉 (the first character is ruan + yuan fan; the Kaosheng says: "Resembling a soft-shelled turtle but large, with a yellow belly and a spotted head"; the Shuowen also says: "A large soft-shelled turtle"; it is formed with min [黽] with yuan [元] as phonetic; the second character is tang + he fan; it resembles a large lizard ten feet in length, being a dragon-like creature that burrows along waterways; Guo Pu says its hide can be used to make drums; the Shuowen says it is formed with min [黽] with dan [單] as phonetic, pronounced na).
