燕雀（上煙見反郭注爾疋云齊人呼燕為𩾐禮記月令亦謂之玄鳥也說文玄鳥也籋口布翅披尾象形也𩾐音乙籋女涉反躡也下將藥反顧野王云依人小鳥也說文從少隹聲也）。

燕雀 (the first character is yan + jian fan; Guo [Pu]'s commentary on the Erya says: "The people of Qi call the swallow 𩾐; the 'Monthly Ordinances' of the Book of Rites also calls it the dark bird [玄鳥]"; the Shuowen says: "The dark bird; picturing the shape with a clamping beak, spread wings, and parted tail"; 𩾐 is pronounced yi; 籋 is nü + she fan, meaning to pinch/clamp; the second character is jiang + yao fan; Gu Yewang says: "A small bird that nests close to humans"; the Shuowen says it is formed with shao [少] with zhui [隹] as phonetic).
