謫罰（上陟革反毛詩傳云謫相責也說文罰也從言商聲經作擿亦通下煩襪反說文云𢪿之小者也言未以力但持刀詈罵則應罰也從力詈聲有從寸作罸者非也）。

Chastisement and punishment (謫罰: the upper [character has the fanqie] 陟革 [zh- + -ek → zhé]. The Mao commentary on the Shijing says: “謫 means to reprimand one another.” The Shuowen: “To punish. Formed from 言 (speech) and 商 as phonetic.” The scripture writes 擿, which is also acceptable. The lower [character has the fanqie] 煩襪 [f- + -at → fá]. The Shuowen says: “A minor offense; it means that before physical force is used, one who merely brandishes a knife and shouts abuses should be punished. Formed from 力 (force) and 詈 (to revile) as phonetic”; writing it from 寸 as 罸 is incorrect).
