大吼歙（下歆急反桂菀珠叢云吸內息引氣入口也考聲云歙猶吸也說文云歙猶縮鼻吸也從欠翕聲吸音歆入反縮音霜六反經從口作噏俗字也）。

大吼歙 (the lower character is xin and ji in fanqie; Guiyuan zhucong says: "Xi means drawing inner breath and pulling air into the mouth." Kaosheng says: "Xi is like inhale." Shuowen says: "Xi is like drawing in the breath through the nose; it is composed of [the radical] 'lack' (欠) with xi (翕) as the phonetic component." 吸 is xin and ru in fanqie. 縮 is shuang and liu in fanqie. In the sūtra it is written with 'mouth' (口) as 噏, which is a vulgar variant).
