杽械（上音丑下音薤考聲云桎梏也鄭注周禮云木在手曰桎在足曰梏亦作杻俗字連枷也）。

杽械 (the upper character is pronounced chou; the lower character is pronounced xie; Kaosheng says: "Manacles and fetters." Zheng's commentary to the Rites of Zhou says: "Wood on the hands is called manacle (chou); on the feet it is called fetter (jie)." It is also written as 杻; in vulgar usage it denotes a flail).
