Banglüe (to flog and plunder) (the first character has the fanqie: 白 + 萠 [bàng]; the *Cang Jie pian* states: 'Bang means to plunder.' The *Wenzi jilüe* states: 'It means to beat and strike.' The *Kaosheng* states: 'Banglüe means to beat and strike in interrogation.' The *Shuowen* states it takes 扌 as semantic classifier and 旁 as phonetic. The second character has the fanqie: 良 + 尚 [liàng]; the *Cang Jie pian* states: 'Lüe means to cane.' Zheng's commentary to the *Liji* states: 'It means to beat and discipline a person.' The *Gujin zhengzi* states it takes 扌 as semantic classifier with a reduced 諒 as phonetic).
