椒房（案應邵漢宮儀云后稱椒房詩云椒聊之實蕃衍延盈外國風美美其繁興興以椒塗室亦取溫煙除惡氣也由若朱泥殿上曰丹墀也）。

Pepper chamber (椒房: according to Ying Shao's Hangong yi: “The Empress's quarters are called the Pepper Chamber”; the Shijing says: “The fruits of the pepper plant are abundant and overflowing”; the external Airs praise it, extolling their thriving increase; the rooms were plastered with pepper to provide warmth, fragrance, and expel noxious air; just as using vermilion mud on the palace hall makes it the Cinnabar Court (丹墀)”).
