Polish and brighten (修瑩): [The second character is] rong plus jiong fan. The Yunying says: 'To rub and wipe.' The Shuowen states: 'Takes "jade" (玉), and ying (營) abbreviated for sound; also written as 鎣.' The Gujin zhengzi sometimes has it taking "metal" (金).
