揮涕（毀歸反說文揮奮也謂揮奮振訊也揮灑也爾雅云揮竭也注云揮振去水為竭也經文作指麾之麾亦非體也）。

揮涕 (Wiping away tears; [揮 is] h[ui] + [gui] fan. The Shuowen jiezi says: "揮 means to stir up vigorously." It means to stir up and shake off. 揮 also means to splash. The Erya says: "揮 means to exhaust." The commentary states: "To shake off and remove water in order to exhaust it is 揮." The sūtra text writes the 麾 of 指麾 (to signal), which is also not the proper character).
