瞳子（上動東反尚書大傳舜目重瞳也埤蒼云目珠子是也考聲云目中瞳子也古今正字從目童聲也）。

瞳子 ('pupil of the eye'; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 動 + 東. The Shangshu dazhuan says: "Shun's eyes had double pupils." The Picang says: "It is the eyeball." The Kaosheng says: "The pupil within the eye." The orthodox character past and present is formed from [the radical] 目 with 童 as the phonetic component).
