脛脠 ('shins and calf/straight legs'; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 形 + 定. Kong [Anguo's] commentary on the Analects says: "'Jing' (脛) is the leg." The Shuowen says: "The 'jing' is the leg/shank (胻); it is formed from [the radical] 肉 with 巠 as the phonetic component." 胻 is pronounced 衡 + 更; 巠 is pronounced 公 + 冷. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 地 + 頂. Zheng [Xuan's] commentary on the Liji says: "'Ting' (脠/誔) means straight." He [Xiu's] commentary on the Gongyang zhuan says: "Extending the bent leg is called 'ting' (脡)." The Gujin zhengzi states it is formed from [the radical] 肉 with 廷 as the phonetic component. 'Bent leg' (胊) is pronounced 渠 + 俱).
