污之（上烏故反顧野王云染污也韓詩云污穢也字書污塗也說文從水亐聲經從夸作洿音於徒反與經義乖也）。

污之 ('defiling it'; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 烏 + 故. Gu Yewang says: "To stain or soil." The Han text of the Shijing says: "Foul and filthy." Character dictionaries say: "To smear with mud." The Shuowen says it is formed from [the radical] 水 with 亐 as the phonetic component. The sūtra writes it with 夸 as 洿, pronounced 於 + 徒, which contradicts the meaning in the sūtra).
