考治（枯老反考聲云苦也又擊也毛詩云子有鍾鼓不擊不考方言考引也經從手作拷俗字非也）。

考治 (To interrogate and punish: The fanqie is 枯老 [kǎo]. The Kaosheng says: 'Suffering; also to strike.' The Mao Commentary on the Book of Odes says: 'You have bells and drums, but do not strike or beat [考] them.' The Fangyan says: '考 means to draw out.' In the sūtra text it is written with the hand radical as 拷, which is an incorrect popular character.)
