天竺（今作䔍或言身毒或云賢豆皆訛也正言印度此翻名月月有千名斯其一稱良以彼土聖賢相繼導凡化物如月照臨囙以名也）。

天竺 (India: nowadays written 䔍, or called Shendu, or called Xiandou, all of which are corrupt. Correctly spoken it is Yindu, translated here as ‘the Moon.’ The moon has a thousand names; this is one designation. Indeed, because in that land sages and worthies have succeeded one another, guiding ordinary beings and transforming things just as the moon shines down, it was named on that account.)
