59.101

欝多羅僧（或云郁多羅僧伽或云優多羅僧或作漚多羅僧亦梵言訛轉耳此譯云上著衣也著謂身相合言於常所服中最在其上故以名也或云覆左肩衣也）。

Uttarāsaṅga (欝多羅僧): Also called yutuoluosengjia (郁多羅僧伽), youduoluoseng (優多羅僧), or written as oudouluoseng (漚多羅僧); these are merely corrupt variants of the Sanskrit word. It is translated as 'upper-worn robe'. 'Worn' means closely fitting the body; it means that among everyday clothing it is the topmost, hence the name. It is also called the 'robe covering the left shoulder'.
