59.15

饉飢（古文𩚮又作饑同几治反爾疋穀不熟為飢蔬不熟為饉春秋穀梁傳曰二穀不升謂之飢三穀不升謂之饉五穀不升謂之災說文飢饉也）。

饉飢 (The ancient script writes 𩚮, also written 饑, same; *jǐ-zhì fan. The Erya says: "Failure of cereal crops is called 飢; failure of vegetables is called 饉." The Guliang Commentary on the Spring and Autumn Annals says: "When two cereals do not ripen, it is called 飢; when three cereals do not ripen, it is called 饉; when five cereals do not ripen, it is called disaster." The Shuowen says: "飢 means famine").
