規摸（上鷄維反顧野王云規圓而矩方也孟子曰不規矩不能方圓是也鄭玄云規正圓器也考聲云規圓正也度也徒各反說文規有也從夫見聲下其胡反前第四百三十卷已具釋訖）。

Pattern and model (規模: for the first character, the fanqie is 鷄維 [guī]. Gu Yewang says: 'The compass draws circles while the carpenter's square draws squares.' Mencius says: 'Without the compass and carpenter's square, one cannot make circles and squares,' which is this. Zheng Xuan says: 'The compass is an instrument for correcting circles.' The Kaosheng says: '規 means circular and true; to measure (度 [duó]).' The Shuowen says: '規 means to hold. It takes radical 夫 with 見 as phonetic.' For the second character, the fanqie is 其胡 [mó].
