一巷（學降反毛詩云里間道也史記云永巷者宮內小道也說文云邑里中道也言在邑中故從二邑共作巷會意字篆文作巷爾雅作衖古文作𨜕）。

一巷 ("a lane"): The character has the fanqie reading [ɣ- + -ɔŋ = xiàng] (學降反). The Mao Shi says: "A roadway between hamlets." The Shiji says: "The 'Long Lane' (Yongxiang) refers to small passageways within the imperial palace." The Shuowen says: "A path within hamlets and villages. Because it is within hamlets, it is formed with two 邑 together to make 巷, an ideographic compound. In seal script it is written 巷; in the Erya it is written 衖; in ancient script it is written 𨜕."
