尋伺（上祥淫反考聲云尋度也逐也說文繹也理也從又又手也從⺕從工從寸寸分理之也度人之兩臂曰尋古文作𡬰會意字也下司恣反考聲察也說文候也從人司聲經作思借音）。

Investigation and discernment (尋伺: the first is pronounced with the fanqie 祥淫 [xún]. The Kaosheng says: "Xun means to deliberate; to pursue." The Shuowen says: "To unravel; to order; deriving from 又 [yòu, meaning hand], ⺕, 工, and 寸; 寸 means to divide and regulate; the span of a person's two outstretched arms is called a xun." In ancient script it is written as 𡬰, an associative compound. The second is pronounced with the fanqie 司恣 [sì]. The Kaosheng says: "To inspect." The Shuowen says: "To watch; deriving from 'person' [人] with 司 as phonetic." In the sūtra it is written as 思, borrowing the pronunciation).
