棑矟（敗埋反考聲云兵仗名也案棑即盾也招戰時蔽翳其身以障刀箭也律文從爿作[爿*卑]非也說文從木作棑省聲也下霜捉反前第七卷已具釋）。

Shield and spear [棑矟] (The fanqie bai + mai. The Kaosheng says: "A name for military weapons." Note: pai is a shield, used to shield the body during combat to ward off knives and arrows. In Vinaya texts it is written with radical pan [爿] as [爿*卑], which is incorrect. The Shuowen writes it with radical mu [木] as pai [棑], with an abbreviated phonetic.
