Hooking and cutting (zhuó in fanqie from dīng and jiǎo; using bronze or iron to make a hook to hook and chop objects, which is colloquially called a gaff hook; the vinaya text takes dēng to write 鄧 or writes 𣃆, both of which are errors; correctly it takes 𠁁, pronounced dǒu in fanqie from tóu and hòu, taking the axe radical with 𠁁 as phonetic; if it takes dòu, that is wrong; the character [門@(亞*斤)] properly takes this 𠁁).
