[(黍-(企-止))/甘]秔餅（上正體香字也說文從[禾/(企-止+木)]從甘律文從禾從曰俗字也秔音耿衡反正體字也即香稻不黏者餅煩萬反或上聲作飯說文粒食也兩體並通從食反聲）。

[(黍-(企-止))/甘]秔餅 (the first is the standard form of the character 香. The Shuowen says: "It takes [禾/(企-止+木)] and 甘." In the Vinaya text it takes 禾 and 曰, which is a popular form. 秔 has the fanqie 耿 + 衡; it is the standard character, referring to fragrant, non-glutinous rice. For 餅, the fanqie is 煩 + 萬, or in the rising tone as 飯. The Shuowen says: "Food of grains." Both forms are acceptable; it takes 食 with 反 as phonetic).
