手把 (The fanqie is *bai* + *ma*; the standard form takes 手 as 把, which is confused with the character *ba*; in Vinaya texts it is written with 爪, a popular character. The *Jixun* says: "*Ba* means to scratch." It is also a phono-semantic character).
