販樵（蕃萬反鄭注周禮云販者朝買夕賣者也說文賤買貴賣也從貝反聲下齊遙反杜注左傳云採薪也說文採柴薪也從木焦聲形聲字也）。

Peddling firewood (販樵; the first character is pronounced with the fanqie 蕃萬 [fàn]; Zheng Xuan's commentary on the Rites of Zhou [Zhouli] says that a peddler is one who buys in the morning and sells in the evening; the Shuowen jiezi says it means buying cheap and selling dear; it takes 'cowrie' [貝] as semantic and 反 as phonetic. The second character is pronounced with the fanqie 齊遙 [qiáo]; Du Yu's commentary on the Zuo zhuan says it means gathering firewood; the Shuowen jiezi says it means gathering kindling and firewood; it takes 'tree' [木] as semantic and 焦 as phonetic, being a phono-semantic character).
