杌木（上吾骨反韻略云杭樹無枝也字綂云杌斷木也一云枯木也說文從木兀聲）。

杌木 (The first syllable is *wù* [wu + gu fanqie]. The Yunlue says: "A bare tree with no branches." The Zitong says: "杌 (*wù*) is a severed tree; another says it is a withered tree." The Shuowen jiezi states that it is formed with 'wood' (木) and 兀 as the phonetic component).
