Anxious and perturbed [憂懆]: (sao + zao [cǎo]). The Kaosheng states: 'Cǎo means unsettled; to suffer.' The Mao commentary on the Shijing states: 'Grieved and unhappy.' The Shuowen states: 'Anxious and unsettled in mind; formed with "mind" [心] as radical and sào [喿] as phonetic.' 喿 has the same pronunciation as above.
