堅𩋸 (firm and hard; the second character is pronounced 額更反. The Guangya states: “Bian also means firm.” The Zishu states: “It means solid and firm.” The Shuowen states: “It is derived from 'leather' (革) with geng as phonetic component.” Sometimes it is written with 'stone' (石) as 硬; the meaning is the same).
