慙赧（上雜甘反尚書云唯有慙德也說文云慙愧也從心斬聲亦作慚下尼簡反前有部律第一卷中已釋）。

慙赧 (ashamed and blushing; the first character is pronounced 雜甘反. The Shangshu states: “Only having a shameful virtue.” The Shuowen states: “Can means feeling ashamed; it is derived from 'heart' (心) with zhan as phonetic component”; it is also written 慚. The second character is pronounced 尼簡反, and was already explained in Fascicle One of the previous Sarvāstivāda-vinaya).
