Flies sipping (蠅𠯗): the first character is pronounced with the fanqie yi-zeng (ying). The Kaosheng states: "A ying is the name of an insect." Zheng [Xuan]'s commentary on the Shijing states: "As an insect, the fly defiles white and makes it black." The Shuowen states: "An insect with a large abdomen; it takes min (黽) and chong (虫) as components." The second character is pronounced with the fanqie zhe-a (zha). The Kaosheng states: "Zha means taking shallowly into the mouth to taste it; 𠯗 also means to suck." The Gujin zhengzi states: "It takes 'mouth' (卩) as semantic classifier and has za (帀) as phonetic component; also written as 𠾱." In the sūtra text it is written with qie (妾) as 唼, which is the vulgar form.
